Department of Energy Ranked First Among Cabinet Agencies On The President's Management Agenda

I am proud to announce that the Department of Energy was ranked first among cabinet-level agencies in the most recent scorecard to assess implementation of the President’s Management Agenda (PMA). The scorecard, which evaluates agency performance in the areas of human capital, competitive sourcing, financial management, e-government, and budget/performance integration, was issued today by OMB. In an accompanying press release, OMB recognized the Department as "leading the pack with regard to management improvement."

This is a tremendous accomplishment and I want to thank each of you for the role you have played in helping the Department achieve this success. Without your hard work and dedication, this achievement would not have been possible.

As public servants, we have a special commitment to the American people to manage their resources effectively. The results of the scorecard demonstrate that the Department of Energy takes this obligation seriously and we are working hard to ensure that taxpayer’s dollars are well managed.

Again, thank you for your contributions. I look forward to the Departments continued success in achieving further management improvements.

Spencer Abraham
Secretary of Energy
