In response to a directive from the Secretary of Energy to the Department, the Office of Internal Review in cooperation with the Office of Corporate Financial Systems developed the L-P-SDRD electronic system to report on laboratory, plant, and site directed research and development. The new system replaced an earlier manual process. It provides an annual report on each project, including administrative, cost and text description. Field CFOs certify the expenditure data prior to submitting the report to Congress. Data may be entered into the system either through a batch upload feed from local systems or by interactive data entry screens. The system also supports an ad hoc query capability for Headquarters Program Office users who have a need to analyze data quickly in order to give rapid turn around on Congressional questions. Another system module performs data extraction in order to send project data to the Office of Scientific and Technical Information. Local sites may print summary and detail reports of their own project data.
