IV. Working with STRIPES
A. STRIPES Documentation
Q: How can I save work when I'm working on a document in STRIPES?
A: Every time a user moves from one screen to the next, STRIPES will save all of
the entered data and attachments. So if a user leaves a document
in the middle of preparation or loses connectivity and returns to STRIPES at a later time,
the data previously entered will be available.
Q: Can a STRIPES user keep paper copies if the contracts close out?
A: We recommend that users
digitize paper copies and then upload into the system. This will help to centralize the location
of acquisition
documents across the Agency. When a contract is closed in STRIPES it is archived in the system
and is not deleted. All documents in STRIPES serve as the official document of record.
Q: Is there a separate approval authentication process in STRIPES?
A: Yes. A user password is
required for the initial log-in. For system security purposes, an “approval password” is
also required whenever a document is approved.
Entering an approval password
helps to validate that only the authorized person is approving the document.
Q: In STRIPES, do you have to indicate the contract type when you initiate Requisition
(formerly known as a Purchase Request or PR?
A: No. STRIPES has the flexibility to establish the type of contract after a Requisition
has been initiated.
B. Help Desk
Q: Who do I contact for STRIPES or FedConnect support?
A: The STRIPES helpdesk can be reached Monday through Friday 8:00 AM EST - 8:00
PM EST at 301 903-2500, option 4 or by e-mail at STRIPES-Helpdesk@hq.doe.gov.
Please note that the IIPS Help Desk is transitioning to become the STRIPES helpdesk so all support
requests sent to this address will be handled by the appropriate representative.
C. Regular System Maintenance
The STRIPES application will be unavailable for weekly maintenance during the following times
(ET):
- Thursdays from 8:00 PM to 11:59 PM
- Fridays from 10:30 PM to 2:00 AM (Saturday)
- Sundays from 6:00 AM to 11:59 PM
D. FedConnect.
Q: What is FedConnect?
A: FedConnect is a web portal that bridges the gap between agencies and vendors.
The portal is operated by Compusearch and agencies pay a fee to connect to, and use, the portal.
There is no cost to an agency’s business partners to use FedConnect. Through this
portal, applicants, offerors, and awardees will be able to review opportunitie, receive awards,
and perform administrative actions throughout the life of an award. It also establishes an open
channel of communication with the DOE that is both secure
and auditable
where you can ask questions, submit responses, acknowledge and exchange
award and modification documents as well as required reports. These entities can create teams
within FedConnect to manage their responses or awards.

Q: Where do I go for FedConnect Support?
A: An announcement was published in FedBizOpps regarding the transition
from using IIPS to FedConnect to communicate between agencies and its business partners. To view the announcement refer to FedBizOpps, Click here. You obtain assistance regarding FedConnect from Compusearch, its operator, at support@fedconnect.net (non-federal
