Standard General Ledger (SGL)
SGL Examples
1. Was fund type 51 accidentally omitted on the proprietary SGL crosswalk? (Date posted – 12/18/03)
A. Whenever our crosswalk references FT=5X or All under Fund Type then the crosswalk includes FT 51 data.
2. Our RWS uses the 58 Fund Type, but it is not clear on the fund type crosswalk, which legacy fund type 58 pertains to RWS? (Date posted – 1/06/04)
A. Fund type 58 will continue to have a unique fund code in STARS. Since fund type 58 contains more than reimbursable work type data, if you specifically need to break out what data is associated with Departmental added factor versus other miscellaneous receipts, you can look at the B&R code. In addition, the SGL team has established some memorandum tracking accounts for Reimbursable Work added factor in fund type 58. These accounts are 9221, 9222, 9251, 9252, 9299.
3. Will there be any requirements to distinguish PPE by research, ERWM, administrative, or legacy waste equipment? (Date posted – 4/06/04)
A. No. There will no longer be a requirement to break out the assets among these different categories.
4. Will the costs related to the purchase of Fixed Assets go through 880201? If so, will that account carry the object class code, B&R, and fund type? (Date posted – 4/06/04)
A. The costs related to the purchase of fixed assets which used to flow through BSC 8133 will now go through the SGL 880201 and 880101 accounts. These 880x accounts should carry the same detail as the old BSC 8133 which includes object class, B&R and fund type.
5. Is the DOE Document Inventory Management System (DIMS) being converted to an SGL format also? (Date posted – 8/3/05)
A. DIMS will be modified to accommodate SGL. The Summary Class Code information will continue to be required in DIMS. This information is somewhat different than the Summary Class Code information formerly captured in the MARS file. If you have any additional questions regarding DIMS, please contact Barbara Uzzell at barbara.uzzell@hq.doe.gov.
6. Will contractors still be required to make year end closing entries with summary class 81? (Date posted – 4/06/04)
A. No. There will be no closing entries using SCC 81 in STARS or SGL.
