The Department of Energy Announces the Standard Accounting and Reporting System (STARS) is Live!
The Department of Energy is pleased to announce the successful completion of the conversion from the Departmental Integrated Standardized Core Accounting System (DISCAS) and the Management Analysis Reporting System (MARS) to the Standard Accounting and Reporting System (STARS) on April 29, 2005. STARS users are now beginning to clear the April transaction backlog and the STARS project team continues to closely monitor progress to ensure a successful April business month-end close.
As many of you know, STARS is a major component of the Department of Energy’s Integrated Management Navigation System (iManage) Program. Adopted by the Department in January 2003, iManage will improve financial performance, integrate budget and performance data, and expand electronic government in support of President Bush’s Management Agenda. iManage will integrate the Department's business systems for accounting, travel, payroll, budget formulation and execution, procurement and contracts management, and human resources. This enterprise-wide program will enable the Department to standardize operations, improve fiscal control and enhance decision-making capabilities.
