Budget and Reporting Classification Codes

Budget and Reporting (B&R) Classification Codes correlate with DOE activities and are used for the reporting of obligations, costs, and revenues by DOE field offices, the formulation of budgets, and the controlling and measuring of actual (versus budgeted) performance. The B&R code is a nine character code segregated as follows:

B&R information and reports are used by members of DOE's Accounting, Budget, Program Office, and Field organizations to view and maintain B&R Information.


Budget and Reporting Code System (BARC)

BARC controls all additions, deletions, and modifications to DOE's B&R codes and provides users with on-line database entry and the capability to produce reports. The data elements for each B&R code in BARC are as follows:

The reports available in BARC are as follows

  1. B&R Classification Changes - shows changes made to B&Rs over a given period of time.
  2. B&R Crosswalk - shows B&R recasts over a given period of time.
  3. Assistant Secretary Listing - shows the Assistant Secretary responsible for each B&R.
  4. Master Report - shows the B&R number, title, level, and definition.
  5. Master File Summary Report - shows the B&R number, title, and level.
